Metro Briefing | New Jersey: Woodbridge: 2 Men Shot To Death

Olga and Alexander Bautin immigrated to New Jersey hoping to spare their sons from serving in the Russian army. One of the sons, 26-year-old Alexey, and a friend were fatally shot on Thursday night. ''We saved him from war in Chechnya, and he was killed here,'' Alexander Bautin told The Star-Ledger of Newark. Alexey Bautin and Sergey Barbashov, 21, of Edison, were shot while sitting in the front seat of Mr. Barbashov's car outside Mr. Bautin's apartment. Detectives were still investigating possible motives and searching for suspects. Mr. Barbashov, a former Middlesex County College student, had hoped to open a business. He sold used cars for an uncle in Bridgeton, authorities said. Mr. Bautin worked full time as a computer programmer.
